Company Values

Company Values in Windmill help you define and promote the principles that shape your organization’s culture. These values can be referenced throughout the platform—including in Shoutouts—to encourage value-based recognition and feedback.

What Are Company Values?

Company Values are your organization’s guiding principles—such as Customer Focus, Innovation, or Collaboration. In Windmill, you can define these values and their descriptions so they’re visible and reinforced across your team’s interactions.

When integrated into Shoutouts, these values can help you collect feedback that aligns with your company’s goals and culture. This makes it easier to recognize and reward behaviors that reflect your core principles.

Example: If “Customer Focus” is one of your values, you can enable feedback prompts in Shoutouts that ask teammates to highlight examples of customer-centered actions.

How to Add or Edit Company Values

  1. Go to Setup → Settings.
In the left-hand menu, you’ll find the Company Values section under Account Settings.

  2. Click on Company Values.
This will open the Company Values page.

  3. Add a new company value.

    • Click the icon to add a new value.

    • Enter the name of the value (e.g., Customer Focus).

    • Provide a description (e.g., Always puts the customer and their experience first.).

  4. Save your values.
Click Save Company Values to apply your updates.

Your saved values will now appear throughout Windmill wherever company values are referenced.

Using Company Values in Shoutouts

Once you’ve set up your company values, you can integrate them into Shoutouts. This allows you to prompt your team for feedback based on specific values—for example, “Who demonstrated Innovation this week?”

This helps ensure recognition aligns with what matters most to your organization and reinforces a consistent, values-driven culture.

Best Practices

  • Keep values short, clear, and action-oriented.

  • Write descriptions that make expectations tangible—what does living this value look like?

  • Periodically review and update your values to ensure they continue to reflect your team’s evolving mission.
